In a guest appearance on Vanity Fair ’s Little Gold Men podcast earlier this year, Winterbottom stated emphatically that The Trip to Greece will be the team’s final jaunt—because, he joked, Coogan and Brydon had run out of new impressions: “That's why it’s the last one. It’s the end of that road. ” Somewhat more seriously, Coogan gave listeners an insight into the difference between his actual self and the version of himself in the films: Rob and I sort of try to undermine each other and play up to the roles we ascribe ourselves…. It’s a strange kind of double bluff being played on the audience. People watching go, “Why is he portraying himself as such a jerk? ” I don’t quite know the answer to it but if it stops it [from] being some P. R. exercise where I’m saying, “What a nice guy.
